President's
Report: The minutes of the
last meeting were accepted as printed in the last newsletter.
Club membership is up 10% - Tom has a goal of 15% and feels that we
should be able to obtain the goal shortly.
Secretary's Report: The National GSPC is soliciting votes for an amendment to their By-Laws to provide for a National Amateur Championship in addition to the currently authorized National Amateur Gun Dog Championship. By a unanimous vote the members approved the proposal. The Secretary will submit the ballot to the GSPCA.
Treasurer's Report: Jeremy Thompson reported on the club's finances - they continue to be on par with past years. Our insurance premium has been paid for the year - it has gone up considerably. Merchandise sales from the Spring Hunt Test brought an additional $93 to our bank account
Hunt Test Committee: There was a discussion of dates for next year's Club events to be held at Sharpe's Farm. Steve Marcq will be meeting with other HELCA members to obtain our dates. We also hope to hold our Training Day on the same day this Spring as last. There was also a discussion about alternative places to hold a Team Shoot. Potential Chairpersons and Secretaries for the events were proposed. Our Fall Hunt test is next weekend, with Steve Marcq as Chairman and Tom Dwyer as Secretary.
Show Committee: Sandra Kretz submitted her report via email to Tom Dwyer. The paperwork is done for the December Specialty Show in Boston. The deadline for entries is November 17, 2004. There will be a class for Hunting Dogs with Junior, Senior or Master titles. Pauline Marcq is soliciting donations for the raffle, and Tom White will be making his beautiful trophies. Sandra is looking into a Vermont supported entry for next year.
Rescue Committee: Peg reported that GSP Rescue is doing "super". Volunteers are needed to foster dogs. If anyone is interested they should contact Michelle Burgess. Sandra Kretz has donated a lovely print of a GSP to the raffle - proceeds will benefit Rescue.
Club Championship Committee: Deb Broad will chair again next year - thanks Deb!
Team Shoot: Discussion tabled.
Election of New Members: Two new members who were presented at the last meeting were ratified: John Hastings and Carl Destremps. One new person, Barbara Desjardins, was presented for membership.
Website Committee: Kim is still looking for original drawings to replace the dog prints on the website.
Old Business:
· AKC Hunt Test Seminar - Sandra is working with Suzi Moore for 2005
· Katahdin Decals - shopping for a reasonable vendor
· Good Sportsman Awards - Tom still working on it.
New Business:
· Alison Jones will be resigning from the board. Her replacement will be voted in at the Annual Meeting. We are delighted that Alison will continue to be active in the club and thank her for her dedication to the club.
· Deb Broad suggested we send photos of the Club Championship which included the judges to the judges, which will be done.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Pat Russell,
Secretary
