The Annual Meeting of the Katahdin German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Greater Portland was held on Saturday March 26, 2005 at the home of Pat Russell. In attendance were Tom Dwyer, Peg Gagnon, Lou Gagnon, Tom White, Kim Leeman, Steve Marcq, Pauline Marcq, Deb Broad, Jeremy Thompson, Gerry Newcombe, Sandra Kretz, Ann Michaud and Pat Russell. The meeting commenced at 1:50 PM.
President's Report: The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as printed in the last newsletter. It is also on the Internet. Tom invited everyone to get lunch and it was noted that Lou's Moose Chili was outstanding! Tom said that two people had called to say that they would not be able to attend, which was appreciated. He passed around the AKC annual report for members to view. Suggestions were made as to how to shorten our meetings.
Secretary's Report: The Secretary reported on dues received to-date. It was agreed to send in Sandra Kretz's name as our delegate to the National Show Delegates Meeting in Illinois in May. It was also voted to send in a $25 trophy donation.
Treasurer's Report: Jeremy Thompson passed around the Annual Financial Report, which will be included in the newsletter. The report not only has income and expenses for the year, but it also is broken down by event. Money is still coming in for the December Specialty Show. Jeremy stated that we want to be able to price events appropriately while we have fun with our dogs.
Election of Officers: The positions of Vice President and Secretary were up for election. Deb Broad was elected Vice President and Pat Russell was reelected Secretary. Tom Dwyer gave many thanks to Tom White, the outgoing Vice President, for all the wonderful work he has done for the club over the years.
Lifetime Achievement Award: Lou Gagnon was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for all his outstanding work with the club since its founding. Steve Marcq made a lovely wooden box for the Award.
Election of New Members: Marion Gray was ratified as a new member. Cassandra Tompkins and Frank Fowler were presented for membership.
Show Committee: Sandra reported that our next event was on July 16th in Essex Junction, Vt. We will use trophies left over from the December show, which means that our only expenses will be the judge's gifts. Deb Broad will be the sweepstakes judge. A possible social event for Friday PM was discussed. Discussion also occurred regarding a show over Labor Day in conjunction with the Mid-Coast club in Maine. It is a wonderful club and we want to do more in Maine, but it is too far away on a holiday weekend.
Training Committee: Jeremy reported that he is two to three weeks away from starting informal field training at different locations. Dates and times will be posted on the website. He will get the committee together to work on a formal training day.
Club Championship Committee: We will look at fees so that it can be priced appropriately and then Deb will work on the details. Tom White volunteered to make his beautiful trophies for it.
Team Shoot: Jeremy reported that Suzi Moore has birds lined up and we seem to be on track.
Hunt Test Committee: The test is scheduled for April 30, 2005 and May 1, 2005. Steve Marcq reported that the premiums went out today, and are on the website. A discussion was held on the timing of the Fall Hunt Test.
Website: Kim was complimented on the new look of the website. Sandra reported that Michelle Burgess has thanked us for putting a link to Rescue on our website. Two shorthairs have been reported lost. If you see them, grab them!

Achievement Plaques: Tom Dwyer handed out the handsome achievement plaques made by Steve Marcq to owners of dogs who had gained titles this year.
The next meeting will be held at 5:00 PM on May 22nd at Tommy Dwyer's house. All members are invited.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Pat Russell,
Secretary
