A meeting of the Katahdin German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Greater Portland was held on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the home of Steve and Pauline Marcq. In attendance were Tom Dwyer, Steve Marcq, Pauline Marcq, Deb Broad, Tal Allen and Pat Russell. The meeting commenced at 5:14 PM.
President's Report: The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as printed in the last newsletter. Tommy suggested that even though Steve is happy to continue to do the newsletter, since Steve has taken on more outside responsibilities that there might be someone else who is interested in taking over the newsletter. It requires about 5 hours of time every two months. If interested, please contact Tommy. Steve also said that it would be nice to have pictures come in to put on the website and in the newsletter.
Secretary's Report: The Secretary reported on dues received to-date. The membership list will be revised to eliminate non-paying members. We have been asked if we want to send a delegate to the National Field Trial Meeting. Tal Allen was nominated as our delegate. The secretary reported on new policies from the AKC relating to Clusters and Back to Back Shows, Contractual and Operational requirements for Filming or Electronic Transmission of Approved Events, Dogs Disqualified by Committee, Use of Motorized Vehicles and Rally Trials. There also was a notice regarding the proposed Pet Animal Welfare Statute.
Treasurer's Report: The Treasurer was unable to attend, so the report was postponed.
Election of New Members: Jeffrey & Erica Gross, Tina Starner & Steve Leathers, and Clark Wamsley were ratified as new members. It was reiterated that the Secretary will send out Club information to new puppy buyers upon request of the breeder.
Show Committee: We are ready for the Vermont show. Our application is in for the December show.
Training Committee: Training has been suspended for the summer, but if the weather cools, we may be able to get a few hours in. Members feel that the training days have been a big success.
Club Championship Committee: We have a potential bird problem, as the Florida supplier will not ship in hot weather. We are looking at alternatives.
Hunt Test Committee: The Fall Hunt Test will be held on October 29th and 30th. Deb Broad has the birds reserved for the test. The logistics of printing the premiums were discussed. The use of email is encouraged, as well as sharing lists from other clubs. Tal will check on the cost of printing the premiums.
Website: Kim was unable to attend, so discussion was tabled.
Old Business:
· A committee was formed of Pat Russell, Tom Dwyer, Deb Broad, Steve Marcq and Tal Allen to review the by-laws and report to the membership.
· Tom will order more decals.
· Pauline agreed to have an Agility Demonstration at the Club Championship.
· Pat reported on various bids to create more club T shirts. The board approved the printing of new T shirts for the Club Championship. A variety of colors, styles and sizes will be available. She will also look into the cost of a new banner.
New Business:
· There was a proposal that we highlight members in the newsletter - perhaps a new member profile or an existing member. The first profile will be "Meet your President", featuring Tommy.
The
next meeting will be held at 5PM on September 25th at Pat Russell's
house. All members are invited.
The meeting was adjourned at 8: 15 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Pat Russell, Secretary
