PICKING THE RIGHT DOG
Dogs are man's best friends - but, before you bring one home, it is important to think of all the things that come with that unconditional puppy love. How much space will you need? How much exercise does the dog require? How much will he/she eat? What sort of family is the dog joining (seniors, kids, working couple)?
It is important to remember that owning a dog is a lifelong commitment. And choosing the right dog generally means identifying the breed that matches your lifestyle and environment. If you live alone in a small, third-floor apartment, buying a large, active breed might not be the best choice. However, if you have a family and are looking for a companion to match your active lifestyle, such a pet may be perfect. A dog's size, exercise requirements, friendliness, assertiveness, and compatibility with children should all figure into your decision.
