Dear Prospective Member:
The Katahdin German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Greater Portland is an active club which was established in 1988. It is recognized by the American Kennel Club and is a member of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America. The goal of our club is to promote and protect the German Shorthaired Pointer and to maintain the standards of the breed. We also have a lot of fun, as our dogs participate in shows, hunt tests, field trials, agility trials, obedience trials and therapy work as well as being wonderful pets. We are actively involved in German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue.
While our members are primarily located in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine, we do have members in such distant locations as North Carolina and Texas.
As a member, you will receive a newsletter by e-mail which contains interesting and informative articles regarding the training, raising and breeding of German Shorthaired Pointers. The newsletter also contains listings of new litters, "Brags" about members' dogs and schedules of Katahdin Club events as well as schedules of national and other hunting dog club events. The Club sponsors Hunt Tests, Training Days and Club Championships and encourages participation in events sponsored by other hunting dog specialty clubs. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer for show or hunting events.
We are pleased by your interest in our club and welcome your participation and enthusiasm at our meetings and events.
Sincerely,
Katahdin German Shorthaired Pointer Club Of Greater Portland
